Learner's Mistake Five
Falling or Travelling?

From a student's writing:
"Once I tripped all the way to Hawaii."
Explanation: The English word "trip" has two meanings. The writer here should use it as a
noun and write "I took a trip" or "I went on a trip". As a verb, "trip" means to fall! (Usually because something gets in the way of
a person's feet or legs.) So, did this student "fall" all the way to Hawaii? I don't think so! (^_^)
