Learner's Mistake Ten
A Small Mixup

One student said this in a restaurant:
"Waiter, could you bring me some kidnaps, please?"
Explanation: Sometimes when we learn many words we confuse the ones that have similar sounds. In
this case, the student certainly wanted to ask for NAP - KINS. The word "kidnap" is a verb which means to take
a person, often a child, and then ask their family for money in exchange for the person's safe return.
