Riddle Fourteen: Opposite Colors

Question: What is white when it's dirty and black when it's clean?

Hint: English has some "compound words" which are two words put together to make one word. Some examples are "toothbrush", "greenhouse", and "upstairs". Think of compound words using either "white" or "black" to answer this riddle. After you think about it, look at the bottom of the page for the answer...

Answer: A blackboard.

Explanation: A blackboard gets covered with white chalk when we use it a lot. Then, we call it "dirty". It is only "clean" when we wash away all of the white chalk. Got it?
